The route in Aquitaine fulfilled a number of different objectives; to provide a venue for training, to avoid coming into contact with the Comte d’Amagnac, to seek support from the lords north of the Garronne and in Aquitaine, and as a secret within a secret to allow William Montacute to take part in a meeting between Joan of Kent and Ximene’s grandmother. The route taken is not well known as a tourist route, but full of interest non the less.
