Langon

Other Places

Langon is the south western end of the famed ferry route across the Garrone. The ferries no longer ply their trade but the extensive quays are evidence of just how important the traffic was.The neighbouring tiny town Sauternes is of course better known as it has given it’s name to the dessert wine of the district.

This river floods!

The depth of the floods which have inflicted on the town are documented  on the quays.

The center of the town is located away from the river on higher ground.
